Frequently Asked Questions

Can I create recurring events with different times?

Time.ly events can have recurrence rules so the same event can repeat at the same time on multiple days. However, if an event recurs at different times of day, you will need to create a new event for each time of day the event is held.

To do this:

  1. Follow the instructions for creating recurring events
  2. Clone the event
  3. Edit the cloned event to change the time and recurrence rules as needed

How to I link to the event submission form?

Link to your calendar’s event submission form by adding /#submit to the end of your calendar page URL.

For example:

Calendar page URL: www.yoursite.com/things-to-do
Event submission form URL: www.yoursite.com/things-to-do/#submit

I don’t see the event submission button. Where is it?

The default spot for the “Post Your Event” submission button is right above the events on the calendar. If you don’t see the button, make sure the Frontend Submissions settings are correct.

Check the Frontend Submissions settings by going to Events > Settings > Add-Ons > Frontend Submissions and making sure these three settings are checked:

  • Show Post Your Event button above the calendar to privileged users
  • Clicking Post Your Event opens the frontend event submission form
  • Allow anonymous users to submit events

Note: You must have a Publisher user type to access the Settings and Theme Options areas

How do I switch the calendar’s default view so it automatically displays as a monthly calendar instead of a list?

Go to Events>Settings>Viewing Events tab. You can switch your calendar’s default view for different devices by selecting the radio button next to your preferred view in the Desktop – Default and Mobile – Default columns.

How do I add a right rail to my calendar and events?

Use Content Wrappers to add a right rail. Check off the Calendar post type when selecting the Content Wrapper to add to your calendar page and individual events.
